Like Ilse DeLange, Waylon has previously suggested that the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest duo could be reinstated. The singer is open to a reunion, he said on Friday evening. Is the duo on its way to a new Eurovision Song Contest participation?
Previously, DeLange and Waylon were a successful duo as The Common Linnets at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. They finished second there. Afterwards, the musical couple broke up after an argument.
Ilse DeLange previously said that she was open to a possible reunion with Waylon. She would even have been in the running for Dutch participation in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Ultimately the choice went to Joost Klein. In an extensive interview with nu.nl, DeLange does not rule out a new Eurovision participation.
Waylon said on Friday evening in the talk show Renze that he is also open to a new collaboration with DeLange.
“We have to talk about it first and then it would be fine,” said 44-year-old Waylon about a new collaboration with 47-year-old Almelose. “I think there is something there, and maybe she has that too, that there is something that is not finished. Something that did not become what it should have become.”
Waylon and DeLange came second in 2014 with their song Calm After The Storm behind the Austrian Conchita Wurst. At the time, it was the Netherlands’ best performance at the Eurovision Song Contest since Teach-In won in 1975. In 2019, Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the Netherlands with Arcade. Source: nu.nl
